Rocks in your eyes

rocks in your eyesJane Robb is a Scottish schoolgirl with an unusual hobby — she is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic geologist.

She started collecting rocks at an early age and has developed her interest to become the winner of the Rockwatch under-12s Rockhound of the Year award in 1999. Her talents also extend to writing and you can read about some of her geological experiences in the two examples available to download here.

Jane's original book, 'Rocks in your eyes', and her follow-up called 'Rocks in your hands', are available as downloadable files which you can read by clicking the buttons on the left.

Since she wrote 'Rocks in your eyes' and 'Rocks in your hands', Jane has gone on to win RockWatch's 'Rocurator of the year' and the overall title 'RockStar 2002'.

'Rocks in your eyes' (1.4Mb) and 'Rocks in your hands' (1.5Mb) are available here in PDF format and should be read using appropriate software, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader. This software is freely available and can be downloaded from Adobe's web site.

You can also download 'Rocks in your eyes' (0.6Mb) and 'Rocks in your hands' (0.7Mb) in a text version.

The BGS would like to hear from other young rockhounds. We can't guarantee to publish everything we receive but if you have something you think we might be interested in please write to:
