 GSI3D Research Consortium pricelist

The consortium is operated on a not–for–profit basis, so all income received by BGS will be used to support and run the consortium and to further develop GSI3D on everyone's behalf. By joining the GSI3D research consortium you will be directly funding future development of the methodology, the software and the documentation, all of which will be released back to the consortium members. Prices are based on organisation type and usage as detailed below.

For further information and to join the research consortium please contact our enquiries team.

Research Consortium Membership

Not-for profit organisation
One-off
joining fee
Annual membership fee
Up to 10 activations Unlimited activations
€2,000 €2,000 €4,000
Licence conditions
This level of membership will allow for public/Government duties and tasks, as well as purely academic teaching and research modelling, so long as your organisation holds not-for-profit status. Examples of not-for-profit organisations are: a geological survey; a university department; a central or local government department; a public sector body — organisations which do not make commercial profits.
Examples

  • A geological survey wishing to acquire unlimited activations of GSI3D would pay €6,000 in the first year (including the €2,000 joining fee) and thereafter €4,000 per-year in membership fees.

  • A university earth science department wishing to acquire up to ten activations for use on both academic and commercial modelling jobs would pay €4,000 in the first year (including the €2,000 joining fee) and thereafter €2,000 per-year in membership fees.

Academic teaching
One-off
joining fee
Annual membership fee
Unlimited activations
€2,000 €1,000
Licence conditions
This level of membership allows for academic teaching purposes only. It does not include teaching as part of a commercial training course. The annual membership fee is not based on the number of users, and should therefore be an attractive option for universities and colleges who will have the freedom to deploy the software across their teaching programmes.
Example

  • A university wishes to equip its earth and environmental science departments with GSI3D to support a series of teaching modules in which the students would also use the software in practical classes. In the first year they would pay €3,000 (including the €2,000 joining fee), and thereafter would pay an annual membership fee of €1,000.

Commercial company
One-off
joining fee
Annual membership fee
Per-activation
€2,000 €4,000 in first year, €2,000 thereafter
Licence conditions
This licence will permit commercial use of GSI3D as a direct part of profit-making or research activities by a purely or partially commercial company.
Example

  • A commercial company wishes to equip a modeller with GSI3D to fulfill commercial contracts. In the first year they would pay €6,000 (including a €2,000 joining fee), and €2,000 per-year thereafter.

Individual student/academic
One-off
joining fee
Annual membership fee
Per-activation
Not applicable €300
Licence conditions
This will permit use of GSI3D as part of academic (strictly non-commercial) research work by a student, academics or private individuals. This version of the licence incurs no joining fee in order to greatly reduce the cost of entry to such users. This option is designed to facilitate the use of GSI3D in purely academic research and publication by individual workers.
Example

  • A PhD student and their supervisor wish to use GSI3D to build a model of a particular geological scenario in order to enhance their research. In this case, both student and supervisor would each buy a separate, individual licence at €300 each.
