The history of Mali is bound intimately to
gold, recalling the famous pilgrimage to Mecca by Kankou Moussa. Today
Mali is the third largest gold producer in Africa. The mining sector represents 21% of the GDP and 72% of returns from export (year 2006) and created more than 8000 jobs. Today, in spite of the challenges a lot of actions have been undertaken to create the conditions for strengthening the capacities of the sector. And our priority is the accessibility and the sharing of information on the mining environment.
