Volcanic hazards

Our collaborative research with scientists at volcano observatories and universities worldwide is leading to better understanding of volcanic systems and improved strategies for mitigation of volcanic risks.

We have expertise in most volcano monitoring methods having applied them for over a decade to the Soufriere Hills Volcano in Montserrat.

Our research interests include:

  • volcano seismology
  • deformation
  • magma supply
  • geochemistry and the impact of volcanoes on the environment
  • communicating hazard and risk to official bodies and communities
